I loved
cesperanza's Written by the Victors a lot, the way most of the people who read it did. Here is my little artistic contribution.
Also to blame are
wihluta and
aesc, who said I should draw this when I first hinted at it. They both did wonders based on this fic.

One of the few surviving family portraits of the first Lantean Monarchy, featuring Kit, Teyla, Rodney, John Timothy and Scout
Gen with hints of Slash

I'm not great at writing references so basically the story behind the picture is this:
It was discovered in the personal collection of some noble who had acquired it from another in an auction many years before, it now has been donated to a museum.
There exists some controversy about weather the family actually posed for the painting, was made from photographs or holograms, was made from the imagination of the artist or a mixture of all of the above. Supporting this hypothesis is the fact that both of Sheppard's sons look almost exactly like him with no hint of their mother's parentage and that John and Rodney's daughter looks like neither. On the other hand, both Sheppard and Emagen look similar to other documented findings.
If anyone wants to write a proper version of the above, please do.

Date: 2007-10-22 02:21 pm (UTC)I have this thing for John's ears, they're really unconventional but ultimately beautiful. Also, someone told me that big ears are genetically dominant over smaller ones, so *all* of John's children will probably get the ears... I'm glad you like it!

Date: 2007-10-22 07:01 pm (UTC)I'm glad you agree with the poses... I agonized about how to draw them all. Timothy was the easiest to draw (and I hope I guessed the ages approximately... although the painting might have been done from pictures rather than from all them posing, so it's the artist's fault if the ages don't match)
Teyla's regal clothing also came easily, while John refused to wear anything resembling a cape and ended up with jeans and a shirt.
:D I'm glad you like it!

Date: 2010-01-18 03:25 am (UTC)Only one thing I see as "wrong" with it... and it's nothing huge. But the older boy should be darker than the younger since he was from Teyla and John... but then, I guess it fits if the people drawing this never knew which was which or something... so it works :)
And for those of us that know the family... Jeanlouise kind of looks like Jeanie :)
Great job! Love the pic! YAY!

Date: 2010-01-21 09:58 am (UTC)Actually the older son is a bit darker in the original watercolor, but I lost some of the color with the scan. You are right though, he should look more like his mother.
I am glad you think Jeanlouiese looks like Jeanie, I was trying for her to look like that, so: yay!
