This one is for neth_dugan, who wanted "John actually IS an elf. For real. Not mini-elf like the ones who make cookies. But LotR type graceful elves (except, y'know, this is JOHN still)".
Medium: Markers on paper.
I went for fierce!elf!John instead of dorky!elf!John, I hope you like it!
Thank you, I keep loving my markers on paper too! The color contrast is so strong! I am used to going sort of pastel with watercolors and I still feel like I am practicing and getting the hang of it.
I am in Japan for two more weeks and then I go to Venezuela for a month and then I go back to Japan but move to another apartment because my lease on this one ran out. Why? Are you planning to visit? My 14 sqm are at your disposal.
I don't know how long the post takes, but if I send it today I don't know if it'll make it in two weeks. So was thinking venezuela so it can be waiting for you when you get there
:) YAY!!!!!!!!! I love the mail! Ans surprise correspondence is the bestest! Correspondence from YOU is the bestest.
Just don't send anything to Venezuela, it'll just be disappointing because it will get stolen and I don't really know what my mum did about the PO box after I left... I suspect it doesn't exist anymore...
It should arrive safely in two weeks, I am looking to get my mail forwarded or something after I move. I really have no experience with things like that, but the Japan post is supposed to be very good. I don't know if I will have time though.
Or for more security, you can wait till I get back and I give you my new address.
:P I didn't mean to *force* you to send me something! (Even though I will probably love it with all my heart). I would have been perfectly happy with some comment!fic or, you know, some stick-figure!John molesting stick-figure!Rodney.
Ooooh, I love the detail on his shirt / vest particularly, and there's something so lovely about the shading of his shirt sleeve - I'm transfixed by it, and the strength it suggests of the arm beneath.
:) Thank you very much! I loved drawing the vest, it was remarkably easy for all the detail that is on it. And I am so glad you like the arm, it is the most important part of the drawing, maybe, and I tried really hard no to mess it up.
The patterns on his clothing are great, they're elvish and like vines but not too much with not enough room. Is that ancient on his armband? I can't quite read it though but nice touch, took me a few to catch it.
But yeah, love it like all your stuff *bounces*
ETA: I think the first word is trust? No idea about the last two letters though.
:) I just knew you'd catch the ancient reference, it's supposed to say "trust your team" but it goes around his arm and didn't fit and I mangled the letters while inking.
I am glad you like the vines, John is an elf, but as you said, he's still *John*. I tried to play a little with that.
Thank you very much, it was a lovely prompt.
I just keep imagining the universe where John is Legolas and Rodney is a reluctant!Aragorn and Ronon and Teyla are hobbits...
Okay, now if I had another prompt I'd go and use that because THAT is an image. The wacky team that the other Elves shun cause not enough to work with a human (who, fair enough, is part elf and future King) but HOBBITS?!?!
Hmmmm, should try and maybe do something 'bout that, I can't draw well but I can kind of write.
And hey, I'm always a fan of using the ancient alphabet, and that's such a John thing to have wrapped around him. His team is his family and so on.
:) Thank you very much! I always mess up the hair, regardless of the medium, but I am happy with how it turned out this time. Shading with markers is *hard*, but maybe I am getting used to it.
:) Markers are always so *striking*! I am more used to the softness of watercolors, this is all new territory for me. On the other hand, you can see the end result so *fast*, you don't have to wait for it to dry. :)
YES, YES, YES! (You didn't give me time to write!) I got it today! It is awesome! I opened it and was greeted by fluffy fluff and it was so funny because before I read the note I totally thought they were Ronon and Laura... which would probably not have been good! :P But as Rodney and John they can now cuddle together *all the time* I have them in a box because I am moving on Friday, but I will put them on my computer when I reach my new home. *snuggles* thank you for an awesome present!
Thank you also for sending fififolle's pin! I was so happy to see it! I love buttons, especially when they are made of my art.
