SGA Tarot Deck: The Hermit and The Devil

Hello all! I'm back all rested and ready to try and catch up with everything that has been going on.

And I come bearing art... a lot of it, actually... (My father has a hobby, and his hobby is a farm... and he likes having me there, in the farm... for weeks... there are cows and it is beautiful but there was a lot of free time I put to good use... I knit a poncho for me and a scarf for my dad and I drew and painted and colored).

In order not to swamp you all I'll be posting one or two pieces every day for as long as I have art lying around. I hope you'll enjoy them.

9. Radek - The Hermit



9. The Hermit: this card represents the past and a need for solitude. It’s a time to stop and do nothing; you need to enjoy your own company for a while. Reflect and look back on your spiritual influences, this card can represent a mentor.


15. Wraith - The Devil



15. The Devil: this represents temptation. It is the ultimate ‘naughty’ card. The Devil warns you against of doing things to excess. This could lead you to a form of emotional bondage. The message with the tarot is always that the solution lies within you: you can release yourself from this oppressive situation at any time.


I sorry I chose the cards mostly for their name rather than their meaning. I think Radek looks rather dashing as "The Hermit" (even if he looks like Daniel Jackson) and there was no way *not* to cast the Wraith as "The Devil".

Radek looks great holding the ZPM like a lantern - but the Wraith one sends chills down my spine! Poor little baby - and he looks like Rodney. (I'm sure John & Rodney will rescue him. :-)

:D Thank you! Some people commented on me not putting the ZPM in Rodney's card, that's because I was saving it for Radek.

And the Wraith one really *is* creepy! I thought I was maybe going to far... And the baby does look a bit like Rodney, I thought for a moment that it could be Rodney's... and then I found it too terrifying to contemplate...

It would make a good story - John & Rodney captured and experimented on - maybe the baby made from their DNA - they have to steal him back and blow up the hive...

It's probably been done - everything else in this fandom has!

I hadn't seen the set before, so I've just been admiring all of them. I really like the style and the consistency of style across the set - that is, I think they look great as a set, as well as individual pieces. I also like your choices for the various cards - and if Radek doesn't entirely fit the Hermit- he does look cute and I like the zpm and the Atlantis style light in the background.

When I first cast Radek as The Hermit I knew he'd need the ZPM as his lantern, they fit together well!

Oooh, this is very cool. I love that Radek the Hermit is holding a ZPM lamp, and Wraith holding the baby looks very dramatic. Awesome!

Of course the Wraith has to be the Devil. But you know, I think you can still work Radek around to the Hermit without too much trouble (at least, if you focus on the mentoring part of the meaning).
