Homophobia in my family (starts at age 13)

So I usually carry my drawings with me. And my 13 year old cousin saw one, and he's like "What are they doing?" and I say "Pillowfighting." "Are they gay?" "No, they're just friends."

The drawing is rather general and they are both dressed in pijamas, so I don't really see the problem.

I also carry with me pictures of Rodney and Teyla making out in their underwear, but he doesn't notice *those*!

Then *he* brings up Brokeback Mountain and asks me if *I* liked it, which I didn't so I told him "No.".

And then I get a call from my uncle at night because I'm bringing up homosexuality when talking to my cousin... which I totally didn't! and drawing men in a bed in their boxers (?!) And how if he brings up the subject I'm supposed to tell him it's *bad* and that men should date women and women date men... as if my cousin needed the encouragement, he tells me every day how when he rules the world he'll kill all homosexuals.

Maybe I'm adopted?

Oy...nothing more really needs to be said now does it..?

It seems like a distinct possibility...

You have my total sympathy, with the slight exception of my mother and father (who understood tolerance if not acceptance) that is just like my family back home. *hugs*

If only they knew that when I tire of fighting with them I tune out their rants by thinking of slash... Rodney and John in their underpants are very distracting.

*hugs*

I can't imagine what that's like to live in those conditions, to have to put up with that, to have to hide your opinions and be unable to talk about them freely with out having a family member calling you up and chewing you out.

*icon just cause you mentioned the movie, and I haven't used it in ages*
