Something for the SGA Tarot Deck! Complete list of Cards and previous cards.

Lovers

Warning: Implied John/Rodney/Ronon/Teyla although it can be seen as friendship/gen

06. Team - The Lovers

Lovers

6. The Lovers: We have two people in love and in a relationship. We also have a card showing the mountain that they have to climb together, the stream in the card represent the obstacles that they will have to overcome together. This couple is earthed together, they will move forward together but they will do so also as individuals.*

This card is dedicated to all the authors and artists that showed me how a Team OT4 could actually work.

And because it was too pretty not to post, the original picture (Normally I make them card sized, but Ronon wouldn't fit so I just made it bigger and then cut and resized it in Photoshop):

Team

The only difference is that you can see slightly more of Teyla's and Rodney's legs and a bit more of the wall.

Lovely card! :) I like the idea of the team as the Lovers. *squees softly*

Before recent times (post-1930s) the Lovers did not actually stand so much for a couple, as they stood for innocence and the beauty of love. It is thought that the idea of the lovers is centered around the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible. The story of the couple in the card says that all the secrets of the world were known to them, all the powers of the minor arcana (the wands, the cups, the swords, and the pentacles) were at their disposal because of the purity of their love and their innocence. They souls flew high above the earth because of their purity.

This card is also tied with The Devil, which (typically) shows the couple depicted in The Lovers chained to a block, tormented, with the Devil sitting or standing on top of the block. The thing that binds them to the block and brought them down from their heavenly state depicted in The Lovers is their newfound fear of the world, and anger because if the serpent had not tempted them in the paradise seen in The Lovers, they would never have known fear and would still fly high in the sky.

Yikes, I told you I could wax poetic about the Arcana for hours, didn't I? Sorry. These are such lovely cards, I just can't help it! :)

I've studied the Tarot in depth for over seven years now, and I do readings quite frequently. I typically study the Hebrew origins of the cards, rather than the post 1930s meanings. If you would ever like to know anything about either the Major or Minor Arcana, feel free to email me. It would be my pleasure for such a lovely deck! :)

Also, are you planning to depict the Minor Arcana as well? Any thoughts on who you might use as The Fool (as the antithesis of The Magician)?

I'm rambling again. Sorry. Anyway, lovely cards, I'll shut up now. :)
